A number of years ago Mr. Gene Over, an American expat living in Belgium, started researching his wife's grandfather’s service during WW II. The grandfather was T/5 Francis D. Morin, and his surviving children knew nothing of his service except the bare facts that he had been in the Army, had landed on Omaha Beach, and saw action in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Over quickly learned that Fran had served with the 107th/112th/254th Engineers from April of 1941 to June of 1945 in the European Theater of Operations(ETO). Those facts unlocked an incredible story. The downloadable file below is the publication of his research. You will find that in some places this story parallels the battalion WW II history as written by LTC(ret) Fred Stonehouse, while providing more detail on the activities of the battalion throughout those years. The article adds a certain depth to the "typical" experiences of the Soldiers who served with the battalion.
